The lead provider of HD DVD players and technology, Toshiba, has given the word that they will no longer be making anymore HD DVD players; instead they will focus on the next new high-tech gadget, Blu-Ray. If you have no clue on what a HD DVD player is, let alone Blu-Ray, than read something! For those of you "newbies" who have no clue what is happening with technology, take this as a gift.
HD DVD was exactly what it is called: High Definition DVD. Have you ever seen a HDTV? Well if you don't even know what a HD DVD player is than your already lost. HDTV is, again, exactly what the name says: High Definition TV. If you were to take a look at a normal television, it would not even come close to compare with the picture of a HDTV. HDTVs and HD DVDs both put out High Definition, but what does High Definition mean? Definition is, what you can call, a quality and high pretty much means, well, high. So, for a quick, easy term for those "newbies" reading: it means it has a sexy, crystal clear picture. Watching a HD DVD, especially on a HDTV, it will be almost exactly like watching the movie or show in person.
Now, blu-ray is almost exactly like HD DVD. Just picture how above I stated that HDTV / HD DVD is like watching it in person. Well blu-ray is like the HD of HD. It is the most recent DVD technology today. But, is it worth it? Some may say yes, and apparently so has Toshiba.
Well with Toshiba out of the picture of HD DVD, it seems that so is a lot of other companies. It may seem some smart moves where made by companies who took advantage of blu-ray early. Like for example: Sony, and it's PS3. Many probably thought it was ridiculous that Sony decided to incorporate a blu-ray player into it's PS3. Though, as our world and technology is changing before us, I could predict many more sales for Sony in the near future. So, many people, instead of buying just a blu-ray player, which costs about two times as much as a HD DVD player, might turn to the PS3 for some gaming as well.
You decide the case: HD DVD or Blu-ray.
