James Bond 007 in Quantum of Solace

-----------------------------------------------

Do you remember playing on your Nintendo 64, playing Golden Eye? If you are asking, what the hell is a Nintendo 64, than you have missed out on good times. Though no need to get all sad, because coming soon is the new, and great looking, game of the James Bond series, James Bond 007 in Quantum of Solace (QoS). Set to follow the story of the movie, which is to be released November 14 this year, designers follow picture by picture to help try to deliver that movie look and experience. Though, if you wish to ruin the plot and get some story on the movie before its release, feel free to pickup the game on its release date of November 4.

Now, most of us have probably also played Call of Duty 4 (COD4). If you do, than be happy because this James Bond game will be played on the COD4 engine to bring out the whole First Person Shooter (FPS) experience. This, along with the next installment of COD will be the only two new games this year, as of date, to be using the COD4 engine. Which, since COD4 was a great game, is not a bad thing.

Though, when playing throughout the game, you will notice that everything, from the interface, movement and even the text will resemble COD4. Even though the team at Treyarch have been working hard to do some "extra" improvements and expansions to the engine.

One of the new things you will be able to do in the game is to cover. With a click of a button, you will be able to hide behind pre-placed objects to cover throughout the game. Also, you have the ability to hurdle over these objects with a tap of a button, kind of like a Gears of War, and with the same button be able to sprint. So have fun taking cover in corners and blind-sight some of the enemies. So, there are a bunch of new things that Treyarch have changed to make the engine seem fresh, but you will still have that feel of COD4.

You can expect a lot of action and some great gun battles, especially on a COD4 engine. Which is defiantly brought out in this game. With the ability to shatter glass, and blow things up you will love to just shoot around randomly to see what can and can't be destroyed. Though, throughout the game there are some fun interactive segments, which is a little twist from a typical FPS gameplay. Things like, during the first level, which is set in a museum, James has to leap from a crashing elevator and make it up the ladder. If you are even a half a second late, expect the elevator shaft, as well as Bond, to be devoured with fire. Though we need this from Activison, who decided to leave out the driving sequences which were common in the latest games of this franchise.

There are also little puzzles throughout the game to keep you playing it, rather than just shooting up random mummys in the museum. Things like a Simon Says type of keypad puzzle, where red flashes mean "don't press" and green flashes mean "press it." So there is a lot to expect from this game, and we hope that the full multiplayer modes will be as great as the good old times of Golden Eye.
